Partnership with NRHA
The Hampton Roads Community Empowerment Alliance (HRCEA)
has built a partnership with Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA), the largest redevelopment and housing authority in Virginia. Through a common vision of fostering sustainable communities, both the HRCEA and NRHA set out to strengthen community engagement and better understand the needs of the communities in which they serve.
The NRHA consist of five (5) family communities and six (6) senior/disabled communities. Each community has elected representatives to bridge the gaps between management and residents. The Tenant Managment Council (TMC) for family communities and the Advisory Council (AC) for the senior/disabled communities. The HRCEA and NRHA believed the best course of action to understanding the residents’ needs would be to speak with leadership and gain insight and guidance from them.
Through this partnership, the HRCEA has joined the Core Teams within the communities. The Core Team consists of community partners that will provide services to residents.
